Out of the Ordinary…How a Simple Road Trip Can Be So Refreshing

I’m very fortunate to be surrounded by amazing friends. A few weeks ago, my friends Amy Grant and Heather Braxton, threw a surprise baby shower for me. It was a total blast. This weekend my friends Denise Diggs and Lynette Mix are throwing another shower for me today in California.

So, John and I decided to drive up and spend the day in San Diego before heading over to Riverside for my shower. Just sitting in the car (a Kia mini-van – not so comfortable…have it since my Range Rover is being fixed from a big boo-boo I gave it at the gas station: ooops!) was very relaxing. John and I got to connect and talk and enjoy our time together looking at the incredibly diverse terrain you cross going west on the 8 from AZ to CA.

We got to San Diego around 6, checked into the Westin GasLamp (love this place!) and then explored the Gas Lamp District. We walked hand-in-hand to the convention center and back round 4th, 5th and 6th, eventually stopping for a much craved (at 8 1/2 months pregnant) Italian dinner at Chianti’s Restaurant. The food was incredible! Kudos to the chef.

It was so relaxing…no computers, no phones, just the two of us out for a stroll talking about our life and our impending changing life when Trinity arrives.

We passed on dessert to wander around town some more and found a great specialty cigar/cafe/dessert bar on Market and 3rd. We enjoyed some spectacular gelato and John had a nice Americano. The summer breeze was fresh and the evening was perfect.

It’s trips like these, out of the ordinary, that are so refreshing and revitalizing. It’s a great time to explore and enjoy and to really get the most out of life.

    Shannon,

With everything that you share to encourage, support, and empower others, it’s great to hear stories of you being treated. :) Now that Trinity is here, the same day would paint a new kind of beautiful. It’s a pleasure to learn and grow with you. :) Carrie
